What are some good ideas for a toy project for a child development class?

I have to do a toy project for my child development class and I need some ideas. I have to make everything myself. Pieces cannot be store-bought (like a storybook or stuffed animal) and the toy's age range can be from 0-7 years old.

make felt puppets with glue, felt paper. You can buy googly eyes or just cut them out from paper.

clay hand prints or a stepping stone for the garden. Stick in leaves, rhinestones, paint when dry.

I had the same project. I invented a baby musical onesie. It’s an ordinary onesie (you can buy it or sew it), and there are different musical features. If the baby presses a button on the top of her foot, for instance, some soft music will start to play. On one wrist there is a jingly bracelet attached and there were other musical things in it but I don’t remember. There were also different textures for the baby to feel. Ex one knee patch with silky material and another knee patch with crinkly material. You could make a onesie with a mixture of a large variety of textures: parts of silk, felt, corduroy, whool etc. Probably appropriate for ages 1-2 :)
Hope this helps! Hopefully you do not attend the same school as me! :D
