I have a friend that is 40 years old but his mental capassity is about 5 years old. He loves “His Tinkertoys”! He has had them for so long that the wholes in the wheel parts became to large and the sticks would not stay in. So needless to say he his lost most of them over the years. His father tried to make him new ones, but it was a NO GO. He didn’t seem to like the feel and won’t touch them. Then yall did bring Tinkertoys back! THEY WERE GIANTS! He hated them…
… so do see now why I want to know if they are the REAL “CLASSIC TINKERTOYS” PLEASE THEY HAVE TO BE. The right size?

Tinkertoy Classic Jumbo Set
My sons are 5 and 3 1/2. We bought the plastic tinkertoy set online for Christmas 2000 and very shortly after receiving it, two pieces broke. I contacted Hasbro and eventually discovered that the plastic set had been discontinued and so, Hasbro replaced the set with a wooden Tinkertoy set. The day we received the replacement wooden set by mail, my son got a splinter from one of the rods. The next day, I discovered that an endcap and a rod were cracked(probably the cause of the splinter the day before). I am very disappointed in the quality of this product. I hope that Hasbro can come up with a plastic set that is a little more durable so splinters won’t be a concern. Also, my boys loved the colorful plastic set and played with it every day.

I fully remember the good times I had as a kid playing with tinkertoys. So many toys now don’t allow the child to use their imagination. In that respect, the old toys are still the best toys.

Tinkertoy Classic Jumbo Set
My mom had cleaned out all of her stuff when she had to move and she gave me the toys that had been accumulating there for years for my day care kids. There was a couple of sets of tinkertoys. When my kids came the next day they played and played with them since it was something they hadn’t seen before. So that is when I started searching online to get some more to add to what I had. They really enjoy building with them.
