This toy broke while being taken out of the package. The toy is held in place in the package with metal wires. The wires are snipped right off the cardboard packaging and then taped over. Because the wires were basically flush with the cardboard, they could not simply be untwisted. The wires were also thick and impervious to scissors. We probably should have been more careful in removing the wires, but in trying to get the item out of the packaging, the wire punctured one of the rubber wings, which caused all the water to drain out.
The baby didn’t mind that the water was gone from one of the wings though and seemed mesmerized by the colors. She is about 7 months and was able to hold this in her hand and wave it around.
This teether would be great if the packing wasn’t so frustrating to open. This would be a great candidate for Amazon frustration free packaging.

Although it’s not advertised on the packaging, customer service at Sassy promises that this teether is PVC, phthalate, and BPA free. (the rep indicated that they don’t advertise these safety standards because they want you to call to confirm that each product is still safe at the time it is purchased) Great news!
