I am 15, and I want to start a toy buisness some day. What can I do now to get started?

I am great in all subjects at school. I get high marks, and I am great with people. I want to start a toy buisness because I have so many great ideas for new toys. The toy buisness even runs in my blood(Nylint Toys). What should I go to college for. What can I do right now. How can I get started. Please give me some tips.

To get some great ideas about small business, you should inquire at your local small business bureau. They’ll usually have seasoned/successful businessmen that come in once/twice a week to talk with people such as yourself that endeavor to start a business. I’ll tell you one thing, it is NOT easy to get it off the ground, but it can be done. Try that.

One thing you could do, is to start collecting theme toys. A lot of people are into these. You know, things like Shrek, Transformers, etc. But keep them in the original box. You can still have reluglar toys but a section for collectibles. Read some books on starting a small businesses. I don’t want to discourage you, but the average new business usually only last about two years. Make sure you have enough money to cover the hard times. Talk to people who own a small business and ask their advice. Good luck and happy selling.

Don’t forget this: location, location, location.

If you wish to go into business, go out and buy a book on starting your own small business. It’ll go through all the basics, break everything down, and get you thinking about all sorts of things.

After you read it, even if you don’t make a business plan, you should be able to better understand business, markets, marketing, budgets, taxes, and a lot of other business stuff that outsiders don’t usually see or get. Then you can build on that by keeping an eye on all things business, watch TV shows on business or business leaders, read the business section in the paper and so on. You’ll find you’ll understand it all a lot better and more easily with just a little added knowledge.

It will also help you to plan what to take in college, as a good book will make you go through your strengths and weaknesses, then you can focus in on building up your weaknesses in college. So if you’re not great at marketing you can take marketing courses, or accounting, or so forth.

It all can start with a book, so go take a look.
